The Huawei RTN 380 operates at 71–76/81–86 GHz frequency bands (E-band). Compared with common-band microwave devices (6–42 GHz), the RTN 380 features large capacity, low inter-site interference, and rich spectrum resources. The RTN 380 provides 4 Gbps microwave backhaul or aggregation links. It is mainly used for mobile backhaul, fixed-network backhaul, and enterprise private networks. It can also be used as a supplement to metro optical networks as well as for CPRI service backhaul between BBUs and RRUs.

Figure 1 shows the Huawei OptiX RTN 380 Application Scenarios.

Huawei OptiX RTN 380 provides these features:
(1) Ultra-High Bandwidth and High Spectral Efficiency
• Large capacity: provides 4 Gbps microwave links for sites.
• Large channel bandwidth: provides a channel bandwidth of up to 750 MHz.
• High modulation mode: provides a modulation scheme of up to 64QAM.
• Super Dual Band: works as a slave device to bond with the RTN 900 to provide the Super Dual Band solution. Through this solution, high-bandwidth, long distance, and highly-available backhaul links can be provided. In addition, through the Super Dual Band Relay solution, the transmission distance of E-band microwave links can be extended further.
• AMAC: supports adaptive modulation and adaptive channel bandwidth (AMAC) to ensures the transmission of high-priority services.
(2) Flexible Link Configuration and Full-Range Protection
• Link configuration: 1+0, 2+0, 2 x (1+0)
• Link-level protection: 1+1 HSB, PLA
• Service-level protection: LAG protection
• Network-level protection: ERPS, MSTP protection, MPLS tunnel 1:1 protection, PW 1:1 APS/FPS
(3) Easy Deployment & Maintenance
• Supports zero footprint installation, quick deployment, and easy maintenance.
• Supports connection to NEs at a site through WLAN, implementing contactless maintenance.
• Supports mobile APP-based service commissioning and configuration during site deployment, making operations convenient.
• Supports use of the NCE to implement E2E management, such as service deployment and real-time performance monitoring.
